We are very happy to announce the first stable release of Solidres for WordPress v0.2.0. Since the initial release v0.1.0 Beta, we’ve received a lot of feedback, bug reports and encouragement from our users and this release is the result of all hard works that we’ve committed since then.
In comparison to v0.1.0 Beta, v0.2.0 can be considered as a huge refactoring of our plugin structure to utilize WordPress API better. At this stage, Solidres for WordPress v0.2.0 has most of the features that Solidres for Joomla 0.9.4 is having, there are some missing features like backend reservation creation etc which we are working on for the next release.
In addition to this release, we also release 10 commercial plugins for WordPress subscriber: Advanced Extra, Complex Tariff, Currency, Discount, Invoice, Limit Booking, Offline, Paypal, Statistics, User. To download them you need to subscribe the SINGLE subscription level for WordPress. In the upcoming months we will working on all missing features and convert Joomla templates to WordPress themes one by one, please stay tuned.
This release marks an important milestone for Solidres project, we are strongly committed to provide a solid hotel booking solution for Joomla and WordPress which are the most popular open source CMS in the world.
2015 has been going well for us. There are still 4 months to go with many exiting things ahead and today we’d like to give an overview of them:
Channel Manager: yes we are working on Channel Manager feature for Solidres and it will be a killer feature for Solidres’s users, especially for those who have been waiting for a long time. We hope to introduce a beta phrase soon, please check back regularly for more news.
TripAdvisor Instant Booking: the beta phrase is still opened, if you want to join, we still have some available slots for you. The beta phrase is opened for all active Solidres’s subcribers, just contact us via our email.
Subscription and Commission feature for Hub plugin: these new features will help you to monetise your partners through subscription packages or commissions rates that you defined.
New Solidres.com website: with the joining of Solidres for WordPress, our current website becomes too small to host a party for 2 great friends like Joomla and WordPress, it needs a major overhault. The work on the new website is still in progress and we hope to launch it within this year.
New Joomla template for Solidres: our new Joomla template has been gone through the development stage and it is being tested before launching. It will join a great collection of Joomla templates developed by Solidres.com and our template partners.
May has come and we’d like to share some latest development news:
Solidres for Joomla v0.9.0 development is going well with many bug fixes and new features implemented, the highlights are:
Reservation creation for staffs: before v0.9.0, reservation can only be made in front end. This new feature will allows reservation to be created by back end staff or front end partners (Hub plugin), it will be very handy when you need to record reservation over phones or direct reservation or reservation via other booking sources.
Editable asset’s coordinates: before v0.9.0, coordinates will be automatically generated in the background using Google Maps Geocoding service, but sometimes coordinates generated this way is not correct and we need to manually adjust them. Since v0.9.0 we add an UI that allow you to manually choosing coordinates by dragging map marker on a real Google Maps, it is very handy and ensure 100% accuracy.
Booking per night or per day: Solidres was built to support hotel booking, that’s why Solidres support booking per night out of the box. Since v0.9.0 we add a new field in asset to allow configure whether an asset is for booking per night or per day.
Add plugin event onSolidresTariffAfterCompute: this will allow you to write plugin which modify the computed tariff programmatically, it is useful when you want to change the tariff’s result the way you want without having to edit Solidres core files. With this change we also develop a simple plg_solidres_sample plugin to demonstrate this ability so that you can use it as an example to develop your own.
Add plugin event onSolidresAssetViewLoad: the initial idea is from this topic when fabrikastyle implemented mod_sr_last_visited. We have to give a big thank to fabrikastyle for the contribution and sharing effort. Base on that we developed mod_sr_myrecentsearches which offer the same functionality but following Solidres coding standard, this module will be released when v0.9.0 get stable.
And more which will be disclosed in the stable release change log.
About Solidres for WordPress, we are are working to keep it up to date with Solidres for Joomla v0.8.0 (or event v0.9.0 if time allows).
We will release Solidres for Joomla v0.9.0 Beta for all subscribers in the next several days to get feedback so that we can fine tune it for stable release. Please stay tuned and check back often for more news.
